EUROCLASS 2008 – OSLO HANDELSGYMNASIUM
We bid farewell to the 30 students from Oslo Handelsgymnasium who have participated in this years Euroclass. They have followed lessons in the 6th form with our own students for the past 3 months and stayed with host families. It has been the most successful programme to date with the students fully integrating into all aspects of life at Beechen Cliff. They have been smart, polite and extremely well mannered throughout their time with us and they have impressed their teachers with their high academic ability. They have been excellent ambassadors for their native Norway and we look forward to continuing our partnership with next years Euroclass 19.
We also say goodbye to their teacher in residence Mr Øyvind Skarlund who has been involved with this project for a number of years. Øyvind has been an inspiration for his students and ensures that the programme runs smoothly on both sides. We wish him a long, happy and well deserved retirement.
Mr K. Mann
Euroclass number 18 is now history. Beechen Cliff has been the host school five times, and we have been very glad to be back after our two year absence. This year has evidently been the best. Firstly, our students have integrated with Beechen Cliff students exceptionally well. Secondly, they have been very pleased with the quality of teaching from their teachers, and we are very impressed by the marks the teachers have given the students. And last, but not least, we are very proud of their contribution to the school’s teams in Rugby, Football and Tennis.
The Norwegian teachers in residence, Tina Knudsen, Nils-Helge Rud and I would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude towards the staff of Beechen Cliff School, especially our Beechen Cliff link teacher Kant Mann, for his help, encouragement and the exceptionally good atmosphere that has surrounded the project. We look forward to next years programme.
Øyvind Skarlund
